‘Hawa’ Breaks Earnings Record in Jessore’s Monihar Hall

“Hawa”, the first film by Mejbaur Rahman Sumon, continues to break records throughout the country. In its second week, the film is screened in 41 theaters across the country, and its success has crossed the borders of Dhaka and penetrated into the heart of Jessore.

“Hawa” got the highest grossing record at the Monihar cinema in Jessore. The movie earned more than BDT 3 lakh in theatrical revenue yesterday. In the past 5 years, no other film has been able to generate such revenue in a single day at the Monihar cinema.

Monihar Cinema Director Ziaul Islam Mithu confirmed the news to the Daily Star. “We had record turnover yesterday. We are really happy with the home screening,” said Mithu.

Jazz Multimedia in its press release cited that “Hawa” is the best-selling movie after the release of “Boss-2” on Eid in 2017. In the past 5 years, no other movie could generate such returned within a day.

Mejbaur’s directorial film Rahman Sumon was released on July 29 in a total of 24 theaters. The film stars Chanchal Chowdhury, Sariful Razz, Shohel Mondol, Nasir Uddin Khan and Sumon Anowar among others.
