Rigaku Analytical Devices chosen to modernize the army

The Rigaku ResQ CQL 1064 nm Handheld Raman Analyzer will be deployed worldwide under the US Dismount Reconnaissance Sets, Kits, and Outfits (DR SKO) program

Rigaku Analytical Devices, a US pioneer of handheld 1064 nm-Raman spectrometers, announced that the Rigaku ResQ CQL 1064 nm Raman Analyzer has been accepted for chemical identification under the US Joint Program Executive Office for Chemical, Biological, Program radiological and nuclear defense (JPEO CBRND) aimed at modernizing the systems of sets, kits and dismounted reconnaissance outfits (DR SKO) of the army. The DR SKO System Modernization Program deploys new and improved technology kits to Department of Defense (DoD) sites worldwide for the characterization of suspected Chemical, Biological, Radiological, and Nuclear (CBRN) hazards. Rigaku’s original 1064 nm Raman-based handheld analyzer, the ResQ, was selected for this program in 2019 as part of a technology refresh program led by the DoD’s JPEO-CBRND program. Following extensive evaluations of various technologies, Rigaku’s wallet was chosen based on its accuracy, ease of use, robustness, and functionality.

The Rigaku ResQ CQL analyzer was launched in 2018 and offers users advanced analytical chemical analysis in a new tactical form factor. Rigaku’s 1064nm Raman technology is used by first responders, border protection, law enforcement and militaries around the world to identify chemical threats – such as explosives, chemical warfare agents (CWA) , precursor chemicals, hazardous household chemicals, narcotics, and more.

Unique features of the Rigaku product line include 4C technology that monitors individual results for precursors that could be used in recipes to craft greater threats. The optional QuickDetect mode enables the detection of non-visible amounts of a substance based on the automated colorimetric technology available on board the ResQ CQL. This allows both detection and identification on one device – not available on any other Raman analyzer.

“Rigaku is at the forefront of chemical threat analysis,” said Bree Allen, president of Rigaku Analytical Devices. “The ResQ CQL represents the next advancement in our product portfolio, and we are proud that it is part of the new chemical response toolkits used by our defense forces.

The ResQ CQL Analyzer is supported through Rigaku’s global sales and support distribution channels, offering 24/7 support, library updates, and software upgrades throughout the lifetime of the analyzer.
