Western Railways (WR) made every effort to increase revenue and continued to maintain momentum. WR has performed exceptionally well and has already made an initial turnover of INR 2,386.21 crore till 17th May 2022, in just 47 days. It is also worth mentioning that the highest daily income of INR 67.61 crore was generated on May 17, 2022.
According to an official statement released by Sumit Thakur – Public Relations Manager of WR, during the period of April 1, 2022 to May 17, 2022, WR achieved revenue to the tune of INR 2,386.21 crore registering a growth of almost 73% compared to the previous year for the corresponding period. Of this amount, revenue of more than INR 684 crore was generated by the passenger sector and about INR 1625 crore was generated by the cargo sector.
Meanwhile, INR 44.06 crore was received from Parcel & luggage which recorded an increase of 46.82% over the previous year for the corresponding period. Additionally, Ticket Checking contributed a record revenue of INR 32.59 crore, registering a whopping growth of 795% over the same period last year.
Thakur further informed that the paradigm shift in policies and WR’s aggressive marketing efforts in various fields have led to sustained revenue growth.
